Armen Nurbekyan
Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia
Armen Nurbekyan was appointed Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, effective December 23, for a six-year term.
Prior to the position of Deputy Governor, Mr. Nurbekyan was the head of Macroeconomic Directorate and the head of Dilijan Training and Research Center.
Armen Nurbekyan first joined the Central Bank of Armenia in 2010. He started his career in Financial Stability Department, and later was transferred to Monetary Policy Department. In the period, when he was working at Economic Research Department, Mr. Nurbekyan went on a business trip to the USA to work at International Monetary Fund. At the return, he was appointed Deputy Head of Dilijan Training and Research Center. A little later, he took up the role of the head of Economic Research Department along with the role of head of Dilijan Training and Research Center.
He is also actively engaged in research, being the author of dozen of articles and publications, as well as the author and coauthor of IMF working papers.
Armen Nurbekyan earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Yerevan State University studying mathematics and mechanics. He also holds master of business administration from American University of Armenia as well as PhD in Physics and Mathematics earned from Yerevan State University.
